Hilton Methodist Church began in the 1980s when a group of families in Hilton who were members at Prestbury Methodist Church decided that they wanted to meet to worship God and have fellowship regularly. In the early days they met in the Hilton Library and then later in the Town Hall. After a few years they took the big step of committing to build a church on the present land in 1992. This little church is now the present-day hall. Slowly, in the goodness of God, the church family outgrew the little church, and the present-day church building was built in 2003. In the early years, the congregation was graciously assisted in a part time capacity by Rev. Kevin Williams, Rev. Julian Laughton, and Rev. Brian Fennel. In 2006, the congregation was able to call its first fulltime minister, Rev. David Barbour. The church building and hall were linked together in 2012. The other ministers that have been stationed at Hilton Methodist Church are Rev. Philippa Cole (2015-2017), Rev. Paul Oosthuizen (2018-2020), Deacon Douw Grobler (2020-2022), and Rev. Joe Taylor since 2023.
We give thanks to Christ who has carried our church thus far!
